And the Winner Is: Into the Stratosphere... Metropolitan... Night Watch... or?
Even though I am mostly immune to Color of the Year hype--because on some level it creates disenchantment with the perfectly nice things we already have (which is not very sustainable)--I am absolutely enthusiastic when it comes to the beauty and symbolism of color and it's unique ability to evoke an atmosphere, a feeling or a memory. And, in that sense, I say hurrah for all of the colors of the year and the stories they tell through these various marquis colors.
The Color Marketing Group used to be the sole arbiter of Color of the Year, but now we have Pantone and nearly every major paint company claiming a color (or colors) as the direction for the year ahead. Not to be left behind in what's become a crowded field, however, the Color Marketing Group now publishes their picks a year ahead of everyone else--and industry is acting on their guidance in everything from clothing to household goods and appliances and cars.
So, without further adieu, here are the colors that have been nominated for Color of the Year in 2019, I'll let you follow the links to read about them... then cast your vote for Best Color of the Year:
