More About WELL Building Design

As mentioned in a previous blog, the Platte Fifteen building currently under construction in LoHi incorporates the WELL Building Standard in its design and construction.  Which, of course, begs the question:  What is the WELL Building Standard?

A quick survey of the Internet produced this answer:

The WELL Building Standard is the world's first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness.  The WELL Building Standard (WELL) marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research, to harness the built environment in support of human health and well-being.

As originally conceived, the WELL Building Standard addresses seven core categories (or "concepts") that are not only integral to the design and operation of buildings, but also how buildings impact and influence human behavior and well-being.  The seven concepts the WELL Building Standard is based upon are:  Air, water, light, fitness, comfort, nourishment and the mind.

So, WELL seems to me to be a very holistic approach to creating healthy environments to live and work in.  I'm all for that!  Helping people lead healthier lives has been at the heart of everything we do at Casa Verde Paint.

ABOUT CASA VERDE PAINT

Casa Verde specializes in premium green paints, plasters and wood finishes for residential and commercial projects. We source products from companies that go beyond industry standards for improving air quality, which becomes increasingly important as homes and office buildings become more energy efficient. Our coatings are predominantly zero VOC and always non-toxic, which means they have health benefits in addition to the environmental protections associated with the reduction of VOCs.

We have been involved in the green building industry for 14 years, starting with a green building supply in Scottsdale, Arizona, and more recently launching a green coatings business in the Denver Metro area. We value healthy living and a sustainable lifestyle, and endeavor to leave the environment a cleaner, healthier place for future generations. Our suppliers are leaders in environmental stewardship--with green business practices that extend from intelligently designed products to packaging, shipping, recycling and community-based initiatives.
