Our Community

We'd like to introduce you to organizations whose work advances sustainable initiatives in our community, and encourage you to patronize their programs and events.  And, if you like what we're doing, we invite you to click the Facebook button in the sidebar and help us improve air quality now.

Just as soon as you've "liked" us, send us a Contact Form (located in the right sidebar) and we'll send you a coupon by return email for a discount on your next purchase of zero VOC paint (a great way for you to make a contribution to clean air, too).  And, we'll make a donation to The Park People's Denver Digs Trees program, one of the local organizations we admire.

We think that's a win:win!

  • The Park People work to preserve, enhance and advocate for Denver's parks, open spaces, urban forests and recreation areas. They pursue this mission by raising private funds for capital projects of various sizes, parks enhancements and through the following programs:

    - Denver Digs Trees

    - Mile High Tree Champions

    - Community Forester

    - Park Legacy

We feel particularly sympathetic to the Denver Digs Trees initiative, because their agenda is so similar to our own: to help residents cultivate a greener, healthier, more livable environment.  Our products contribute to clean air through the elimination of toxic substances that cause greenhouse gases and respiratory and other illnesses.  Trees improve air quality, enhance property values, lower energy bills and beautify our homes and our city.

You can support The Park People's mission with a donation.  100% of the funds they receive will go to their activities.  And, if you'd like to LIKE us on Facebook, we'll gladly send you a discount coupon for your next purchase of zero VOC paints and make a donation to the Denver Digs Trees program.  We think that's a real win:win for clean air.

If you are interested in being the recipient of a tree through one of The Park People's programs or know someone who would, they are accepting applications now through February 15th for their Spring Street Tree planting.

  • We'd like to introduce you to the Mile High Business Alliance, a group whose work you may already be familiar with.  They're the ones who publish the Local Flavor Guides, that promote unique locally owned shops and restaurants in neighborhoods around the city.  Maybe you've picked one up at the library or a local business, like the Tattered Cover, Watercourse Foods or Five Green Boxes?

But that's not all they do!  In fact, the Mile High Business Alliance has a whole menu of programs that fall under the umbrella of their Local First initiative: Buy Local Week, Buy Local First, Eat Local First and so on.  The organizing principle of these programs is to raise awareness of and support the positive impact that Colorado's 535,000 locally owned businesses have on our state's economy.

Significantly, local businesses employ more than 1,632,000 residents (about a third of our population).  And, every dollar spent at a local business will recirculate at least three more times than purchases made at national chains and franchises, which means more jobs, more tax revenues and more unique neighborhoods... which also means more experiences and amenities that make Denver such a healthy and enjoyable place to call home.

The Mile High Business Alliance is a membership organization and an affiliate of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), with many opportunities to learn and get involved.  For more information: http://milehighbiz.org/
